The European Union has recently introduced new legislation, the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).

What is EUDR?

This regulation is designed to combat deforestation and promote sustainable production by imposing strict requirements on the origin of certain products. EUDR requires companies importing products such as rubber, cattle, soy, palm oil, cocoa, coffee and wood to be able to demonstrate that these products do not contribute to deforestation. This means that companies must provide detailed information about the origin of their products, including geolocation data, to prove that they come from areas that have not been deforested after December 31, 2020.

Over the past years, they have already assisted us in meeting all requirements for the existing EUTR regulation. We are fully engaged in evaluating our current supply chain and working on recording the necessary data to ensure full transparency. There are currently challenges with geolocation data from China, which may affect imports. We are working hard with federations and governments on solutions and will keep you informed of progress.

Impact on the European market

In the short term, your supply from China is still secured, but we want to inform you early about these developments. Should the situation not improve, we will immediately inform you and offer alternative options. We already have several other

sources in our portfolio that fully comply with the new regulation, and we can deploy these if necessary to ensure supply security.
